They’re always much, much cooler looking than modern stickers. These I find especially cool looking…
Only thing is… I feel like, they aren’t actually stickers. I know the auction SAYS they’re stickers, but I’ve never seen any two part stickers before. They look more like the backs of the stickers, like the kind you could collect and put together as a puzzle of sorts.
There’s a great Patton Oswalt bit about Tivo, in which he compares Tivo to a special needs child who desperately wants the scratch n sniff “Grape Job” sticker.
Now, I was never a special needs child (yes, I know it’s hard to believe), but as a little kid, I too was often rewarded with stickers. We’re talking like 1st and 2nd grade here. And while I got my fair share of scratch n sniffs, a lot of the stickers I got were more akin to these:
A 4 inch high Spider Woman makes for a grand reward. But even better than that would be if the sticker was one of the cherished PUFFY STICKERS:
Don’t pretend you don’t know the awesomeness that was puffy stickers. Stickers today just don’t measure up. I was in a store the other day, and the stickers I saw were going for some sort of 3D thing… it was the suck.
Riddle me this.

If you were a kid in the 70s or 80s, and weren’t psyched on puffy stickers, you were never a kid. The Hulk ones especially look pretty sweet.
Awhile back, I posted about some late 60s stickers featuring Marvel comics characters saying funny things. And when I say funny things, I mean extremely forced puns based on whatever pose the characters were in on the stickers. I chalked it up to some one getting some bad reefer from a hippie, but then I stumbled upon these:
That’s right, more of the same. Only from ten years down the line. I guess someone found that bag of bum reefer.

There are literally forty of these stickers available as part of this auction. I highly recommend you go take a look at rest of the cheap, borderline non sequitur laughs on display. Also included is a series checklist, and in the grand tradition of comic card checklists, the reverse side makes a poster of sorts. And in this case, it’s a great one.
