Viva Mexican Comics

Ok, so if we’re going to get technical, some of these aren’t Mexican comics, they’re translated comics from the US. But let’s not get too heavy here and instead just acknowledge that Mexico is awesome and celebrate that fact by bidding on some comics. Buy them for a friend who is building a bar in the hip part of town. He can frame them and it’ll be “clever” or something.

You know this guy. Diabolico. He’s “El Hombre Que No Something A Nada!”

Sexual truckers. Viva.

It does seem gran.

The fact that I don’t speak the language makes this comic 20x more bizarre, and appealing.

With Great Power Comes Mucho Responsabilidad

Those of you in the Southwest US and California are sick of Mexico. It’s been something you’ve had to be aware of since you were a little kid. It holds no mysteries for you and is likely as exciting as Canada is for me, a kid from upstate NY. But I’m new to California and find the whole Mexican thing charming as hell. I like the food, the girls, and the girls.

I have no idea what the present state of comics is in Mexico, but these auctions of books from the 70’s speak to the fact that they had it right for at least a minute. Hopefully it didn’t end up like France, where they treat graphic novels like museum pieces or Japan where they pump out billions of pages a year with no concern for quality.

Hopefully they’ve upped their lettering game since the 70’s. Check out the lettering on the Los 4 Fantasticos cover. Barf.
