That’s an ugly grimace…

Classic rivals.

It only makes it better that one of them almost never really wins.

The HULK is just too much for the THING. Always. Always. Always. It’s like one of those rules you find out about a week after you buy your first comic.

But the beautiful part is that ol’ Ben Grimm never gives up. He always believes that he will get him. Rather – he knows he’ll lose. But someone has to stiffen up and go push the bully.

Now go buy this poster and explain it to your ten year old son between his texts.

Arthur Adams, Chapter 2: For the penny wise

With such a wealth of work, it’s not hard to find those big name items.

They just come with those big ticket prices.

What about those of us who just don’t have that kind of money lying around? No worries. Many cool items abound to add to a unique Arthur Adams appreciation.

His two most(?) recent sketchbooks, made in very limited quantities. Chock full’o rare and never before seen images. I want to see these. I want to own these. Hey, I can afford to, too!

I feel like I’ve espoused my love of the Modern Masters series before, but this is the ABSOLUTE bible on an artist as soon as it comes out. Comprehensive, definitive, complete – these are an a treasure and I plan on owning as many of them as I can. Great content, both written and visual. A must.

Arthur Adams, Chapter 1: Deep Pockets

Great artists die hard.

I think like the great John Travolta, Arthur Adams had a lil’ bit of the Phoenix Force in his guts too. Because after being on the outskirts of mainstream comics for much of the 90′s, Arthur Adams has returned with the gusto he had in the 80′s, and then some.

I’d go as far as to say that his art has now reached the apex that it only hinted at back in his younger days – he has finally nailed down a high grade of consistency that is almost unmatched in not only it’s detail, but the nearly effortless energy it exudes. Like Michael Jordan and basketball, Arthur Adams was put on this planet to draw comic books.

To celebrate that, I decided to go with a dual post on Mr. Adams, and this will be for the higher end. So get out your checkbook (or paypal account) and get ready to bleed for these. But believe me – they’re worth every penny.

How can you go wrong with Colossus, Storm, and a giant magical dog? Trick question, you can’t.

A “new era” piece by Adams, this is from the recently published Ultimate X series. Getting a lot of attention from bidders already.

My favorite of the bunch, absolutely awesome recreation of the first appearance of Wolverine, from Incredible Hulk #181.

Start’m Young

Old enough to teethe… old enough to read! Here’s an effort on the part of Marvel to make fans for life out of toddlers. While I don’t know why an infant would want to chew on The Hulk’s hand, I respect their right to do so and, moreover, I respect Marvel’s hustle. God bless a free market. Make mine Marvel!

#200

We recently passed 200 posts.

Pretty decent. 300 is going to come a lot faster. Promise.

But seeing as how most comic series don’t make it to 200, I figured it was worth celebrating with some #200 covers.  For some reason, #100 seems like a bigger deal than #200, as if making it 100 issues is hard, but that making it to #200 should just happen. Weird.

Daredevil #200

Superman #200

Thor #200

The Incredible Hulk #200

Batman #200

Amazing Spider-Man #200

Justice League of America #200

Thank you for reading. Help spread the word if you dig what we are doing.

Did I click the wrong link?

“Wait. Is this my daughter’s blog feed?

Why is there a box of rings on this comic blog?

I am not interested in this. BAH.”

But wait… let’s pop the hood on this “fashion rings” disguise.

BOOM! Marvel hero rings. I wish I could find a better image somewhere online but no luck. Looks like a big selection, with Spider-Man, The Hulk, Captain Marvel, Spider-Woman, Ghost Rider, and Dr. Strange.

Overall the selection makes some sense, considering the time frame this likely comes from. I’m actually shocked NOT to see a Power Man and Iron Fist ring, but hey, the 70′s was unpredictable like that. (Not that I’d really know, I’m an eighties baby). Spider-Woman was basically the female Gambit of the 70′s – came out of the gate raging, but eventually fell out of popularity. I would bet money on a Gambit resurgence in 2015-2020. Bank it. Captain Marvel was big, Ghost Rider was huge, and the Hulk and Spider-Man both had bigger mainstream success. Dr. Strange also somehow found his niche – I’ve always really liked Dr. Strange but never really understood his popularity. Time to pull out the long boxes because my father was a huge Dr. Strange head – the only book he would buy old issues of.

Can’t see this being purchased for the price tag, but who knows. Maybe the Mandarin has a lot of kids with a whole lot of fingers…

This seems really inappropriate.

Uhhh.

I wonder what Lou Ferrigno thinks of this.

Not a fan.

Honestly, you couldn’t find some purple felt anywhere? Even a belt would’ve helped. Honestly, I think the seller is getting a laugh out of this one. Look at the way the Hulk’s legs are turned. That is one bashful, plastic, green man.

The Green Teat*.

I had literally no idea that Sci Fi legend and noted curmudgeon Harlan Ellison ever wrote for comic books. I can only imagine what the plots of these two issues are, and what his thoughts on working in the comics industry were afterward.

*- Don’t get the title? Do yourself a favor, find a copy of this:

BAPE SMASH!

Not being into sneaker collecting or BAPE, I can’t really say if these are cool or not. I know that as someone who actually wears his sneakers, I wouldn’t be into them (though I’m pretty sure I had a Gotcha surf wear tank top in the 5th grade that would match these 100%). But I guess if you’re a sneaker head or a BAPE collector, you’re not going to be worrying about what to wear with these if you buy them, so more power to you.

This would be way cooler if the Hulk had actually been in a band.

I dunno, I feel like late 60′s/early 70′s Rolling Stone wasn’t quite up the Hulk’s alley. Bruce Banner was clearly a Perry Como kinda guy, and much as I’d like to say the Hulk would have been into Sabbath, ol’ Jade Jaws more than likely would have freaked out over the noise and jumped 1000 miles to the nearest quiet desert to be left alone. Plus there’s the whole battling hippie biker types thing…
