Thanks to Bob’s post about the random Avengers line ups of the early 300′s, I’ve remembered a certain 4 issue mini series that blew my mind as a kid: Jim Starlin’s Gilgamesh II.
I feel like most people have forgotten all about this one, and there’s pretty much nothing about to be found online at all. But I haven’t forgotten it. Because when I was 12, a depressing futuristic satire about a Superman type last of his race that uses the Epic of Gilgamesh as it’s template pretty much fried my circuits (plus there’s a mid-series touch of Cthulu). It’s going to be interesting to see if it holds up for me now that I actually know the legend of Gilgamesh and can see the parallels in plot more clearly.
