I’ve never understood this, and I’ve been seeing it a lot lately.
Sure, the old Hostess comic book ads were pretty rad, but is anyone seriously going to pay more than 25 cents for a page cut out of a comic book? Old or not, Hostess cupcakes or not, it just seems silly to me. And it’s not just comic books; a couple months ago I kept seeing a Cro-mags “Best Wishes” ad cut from a magazine up for a $15 BIN. Right now there’s even a flyer for a Motorhead, Megadeth and Cro-mags gig for the same price. And when I say “flyer”, I mean an ad cut out of a newspaper.
Am I missing something? Is there some secret, yellowing magazine/comic book ad clipping sub culture somewhere I’m unaware of?
